Visiting Japan For Researching Purposes

The aim of this web site, consist on a general reference sharing personal experiences. This web could be visited in the future on sites as Netscape, Mosaic o Microsoft Explorer. Till now, there is not much information because the collecting process has not finished.

Basically, the purpose of this page is in order to see the basic and fundamenteal history, about the time that I visited japan and the main object in the recently finished project. Many visits to different places around Japan and Nagoya, was carry out. Then, I have many pictures, such as the pictures down belong. Another purpose to visit Japan, involved the use of asistied computer software (ANSYS), in the Finite Element Analysis (FEA), using this method as main mathematical tool. After application of the FEA, the calculation was completed applyig ANSYS software program. It seen interesting, and the obtained results are very nice and agreed comparing with that obtained in the laboratory.

Introduction to NaitoLab at Maijo University

My host University in Japan was the Meijo University, in Nagoya city. After flying for about 20 hours from Mexico city to Tokyo, the next was to take an air plane going for Nagoya. The engineering and sciences campus in Meijo University,is sited at Shiogamaguchi Tempaku area, very close to the center of Nagoya. A very big subway network covers all Nagoya. Such network runs from Kamiotai to Nonami (North to South, respectively), and from Takabata and Nagoyako to Akaike and Fijigaoka (West to east directions, respectively).
In Meijo University, the department of Electric Engineering, shares together to the Electronic and Computation department, the same buiding; divided into three floor levels. Being the second floor assigned to the Electric Engineering area. In Meijo University (MU) my advisor professor was the Dr. Ph. Katsuhiko Naito, who stablished the project to be developed. In the beginning of the period, after my arriving to Japan, the asigned project was called "Calculation of Elctric Field for Arrester and High voltage Isolators". In this case the use of contaminated porcelain housing conditions, were used.
This is a serious problem, because of the changes due to a new boundary on the porcelain housing, involves the increment of complex analysis. In previous years to the growing of the software industry, the time and efftort to solve such case, means a significant fight into the electric researching world.
Innovative mathematical method has been employed recently in order to get tools and make the problem easier. The Finite element Method was found very suitable to give a solution to this kind of problems.

Modeling World

At NaitoLab, a name given to the Professor Naito's Laboratory, the Finite Element Analysis (FEA) is a routine part of the developing of electric field simulation by software.
Significant portions of the effortd required to develop this project, were directed toward chosing the simulation option.
The FEM software also was required to start with a simple definition of the model (Surge arrester in this case) and its boundary conditions, then build the FEA model, run the analysis, interrogate the results and write this report.
